Transforming Painful Feelings

Sunday Mornings from 10:30am to 12pm October 4 - 25

Transforming Painful Feelings

In Buddhism, painful emotions are known as ‘delusions’. They are called this precisely because they are delusional ways of seeing the world and they distort our perceptions. Therefore, delusions such as anger, desirous attachment, jealousy, and deluded pride are completely unreliable states of mind, guaranteed to create unhappiness for ourself and others.

Buddha taught clear methods – based in meditation – for recognizing these delusions and transforming them into healthier, reality-based states of mind. By applying these methods and dismantling our painful states of mind we can remain peaceful and effective in even the most difficult situations. Could there be a more essential life skill?

You are welcome to attend all or any of these invaluable discussions and meditations. No previous experience is necessary, drop in anytime.

Finding Balance in Difficult Times

Sundays from 10:30am to 12:00pm
November 1 to 15

Finding Balance in Difficult Times

In difficult times, it is easy to become deeply disturbed by the appearances and actions of others. In these classes, we will learn meditations on Buddhist equanimity, applying this meditation to both people and external situations.

By meditating on equanimity, we can create an inner space that enables us to keep a balanced and peaceful state of mind no matter what happens. We develop mental equilibrium, a stable inner experience of wellness and happiness, rather than an unbalanced mind that oscillates between the extremes of excitement and despondency.
